PBS Special Report on building green
Roger Thomas Featured on PBS for Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design (LEED)
Roger, Choice Builders’ founder and President, was featured in a PBS Special Report on building green. The Documentary was a part of a series titled “Building Vegas GREENer: Saving Energy/Energy $avings” and aired July 20, 2010. The video focuses on USGBC and LEED Certification as a process for standardizing what makes a building “green”. USGBC is short for US Green Building Council and LEED stands for Leadership in Environmental and Energy Design. Roger is an Accredited Professional with USBC in Building Design and Construction.
The program surveys several green buildings, Roger appears just after 8 minutes 50 seconds until 12 minutes and 30 minutes. It’s a few minutes you don’t want to miss if you are considering Choice Builders. He explains some of the energy saving and environmental features he built for Cashman Caterpillar Nevada Headquarters. This was a $75MM, 300,000 square-foot new facility across seven buildings, and 53 acres that was completed three months ahead of schedule and $1.5MM under-budget. The project was awarded LEED Gold Certification, which is the 3rd-highest tier of a 4-tier system. The complexity of the project exemplifies Roger’s expertise in energy efficiency and building processes.
